Hello Hello!

Welcome friends!

Artist and Owner of Phigment Design Studio Meg Smiley here! I am SO excited to be sharing my very first blog post with you. The past couple years have been an exciting journey of developing my book and my business, so I felt it was about time to start sharing more of myself with all of you: my (beyond) amazing customers and supporters! I'd like to start by telling you what you can expect from this blog!

Here are a couple of things you will see here:

1. SELF-PUBLISHING & PAINTING TIPS

Several of you have asked me about my painting and self-publishing process! I'm very excited to share my knowledge with you all and help anyone else who would like to self-publish a book. :) P.S. I may also be currently working on a digital self-publishing guide for those of you who are interested! STAY TUNED!

2. ART INSPIRATION/ENCOURAGEMENT

"Art inspiration" has a double-meaning for me. I'd like to share what inspires my artwork AND encourage and inspire you through my artwork! We all need some grace, encouragement, and a little pick-me-up sometimes and I decided a long time ago that the whole point of my art and my business is to serve and encourage you!

3. HEARTFELT SHARING

This can be difficult in a world where social media and perfect pictures rule the Internet, but my goal is to be a small light on your screen (no pun intended LOL) that values truth and "#realtalk" over appearances and perfection.

4. A SPRINKLE OF LIFE'S CRAZY ADVENTURES

My life is a bit of an adventure! I'll get to more of that in a later blog post, but for starters, my husband and I have moved 3 times in the past six years! I grew up in Southern California, we got married in small town Iowa, lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a little while, and now reside in a tiny studio that is about 250 ft.² in the middle of Long Island, New York! Just this year, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It makes my daily life interesting and challenging at times. However, it also prompted me to quit my day job and, finish self-publishing "Animals Under the Bed!" and start my own business in 2017! It has been a wild but blessed adventure and I would love to share as much as you'd like to hear.

This leads me to number 5...

5. WHATEVER YOU'D LIKE ;)

Is there something you're dying to know about me, my business, or my book-making process that's not on this list? Don't hesitate to respond in the comments below or send me an e-mail here! I'd love to explore other topics related to my business, my artwork, or just life.

My goal is for this blog to be a place where you can grab some coffee, connect, be encouraged, and maybe learn a few self-publishing/art tips along the way!

What are your thoughts about this? Let me know in the comments below! :)
